This is the final version of “Miranda” (2009), oil on canvas. I’m very happy with the way this one turned out, but I confess that the pictures do not do it justice in terms of the softness of the gradients and skin, nor the color scheme that’s really happening here.
I took a ton of pictures of this painting before and after delivering it to my friend Brownyn today, but it turns out that the best picture I took of it was on my cellphone, which is the pic above, before I signed the piece. The digital camera shots were all extremely out of focus or in weird lighting that reflected off some of the still-tacky violet paint. So here are two shots of the same painting in different conditions. I may, at some point, borrow the painting again and see if I can get professional photos taken to reduce loss of quality here, but for now I definitely prefer the cellphone shot. :)
